We was hacked!
SecurityWell we were hacked last week.
I just couldn't be arsed to do anyhitng about it till now as I figured fuck it! I have a life off the net and I am going to enjoy it.
The hack attempt came from some bunch of tossers called the tht group or something in turkey, which does not really surprise me as after all all they are are camel shaggers with a pair of shoes on their feet.

Aye well. We're back, they're a bunch of sad wankers who were probably pissed off because their sister wouldn't put out that evening and we're still intact.

If it happens again... I'll probably shut down as I simple don't need the shite!.

Another auto install firmware for the compasseo
NewsMine has been playing about recently. Today I did a hard reset and it wuld only partially boot / set itself up. So I dissected the firmware and could find no reason for it, however it still would not boot.... Not until I repatched the firmware with a slightly different boot order... Strange!
If you are having problems lke this (Or your compasseo takes a long time to become live after a reflash, then try the Rev 2 Autoinstaller that is in the Download Section please.

RIP GPS400
NewsWell, I killed the GPS400 during a reflash. The memory card decided to crash during a reflash. Problem is it crashed whilst doing the bootloader. For those that don't understand the bootloader is pretty much like what happens when you turn on your PC and it's initialising before it loads the operating system. So no bootloader = no initialisation = screen lights up and nothing else.
I think I can recover it with a JTAG cable, but I have to see and of course find the JTAG points inside the unit as well. Oh well another project. hehe.

On the compasseo front. I have tried tomtom 6 on it and it's slow as hell! Slow to the point that the map screen updates evey 4 - 5 seconds. It's the same with or without GAPI acelleration. :(
Another experiment I have done is with the destinator 5.5.106 from the GPS 400 on the Compasseo. It works fine if you edit the config file to Com1 so it sees the GPS port. Also the 7 digit postcodes work every time too, so I guess there's a conflict there in WinCE 4.2 with regards that.
It's all a bit of a soup at the moment, but I'll keep plodding away in the background, in between moving house and getting settled after my expeditions abroard.
Stick with me and check back soon.

I'm BACK! and I bring gifts.
NewsFirst of all welcome to compasseo.co.uk This is my new place for hosting all my firmware mods and of course the work I have done so far with the GPS400 / Compasseo

After a few months break for pesonal reasons I am back on the scene, and of course I come bearing gifts for the compasseo users.
In the Downloads Section you'll find 2 modified firmwares for the Compasseo, as well as all the other firmware I have modified for the GPS400 and a few other must have items. I hope to be adding to this section regularly until we have a full arsenal of resources.

Now onto the modified compasseo firmwares:
There's a Windows CE autoboot firmware which brings you striaght into Windows CE after a soft reset.
AND....
A Custom installer firmware for autoinstalling all your applications after a hard reset. This one requires you to put all the applications you want installed into one custom install .cab file and then loads it at hard reset whilst you set up the GPS.
These are basically the same mods that I have done for the GPS400, now redone for the Compasseo.

It's good to be back!
